CVS launches its largest Graduate Programme to date

CVS Group | Press Release • Jan 14, 2021

New Summer Camp will provide valuable practical experience to newly qualified vets

CVS Group (“CVS”), one of the UK’s leading providers of integrated veterinary services, will offer up to 150 graduates a place on its CVS Graduate Programme in 2021, the largest new graduate intake since the scheme launched in 2015.

Since its inception, the CVS New Graduate Scheme has supported over 500 graduates and provided them with the mentorship, training and framework within which to grow and develop as veterinary professionals at CVS.

The full programme is tailor-made, offering graduates the right support network by ensuring they have an experienced clinical mentor working alongside them in practice. The programme also involves dedicated Continued Professional Development (CPD) days, supporting the development of clinical and non-clinical skills, whilst also providing the opportunity to share experiences with fellow graduates.

To further enhance the New Graduate Programme, this year CVS is launching its ‘Summer Camp’ for the first time. This addition to the programme will focus on helping young vets, who are leaving universities and colleges and entering the profession, to develop their core practical skills, as well as increase their knowledge and understanding of surgery and consulting.

Starting in August this year, all new recruits will attend the fully paid, three week camp which involves a week of residential training and a week in a practice environment during which graduates will gain experience in the operating theatre. This is supported by a week of applied online learning, delivered through CVS KnowledgeHub, the Group’s virtual learning environment.

Professor Renate Weller, Director of Education at CVS Group, commented:

“We are extremely proud of the CVS Graduate Programme and the support and opportunities it has provided new vets who are joining our business. People are at the heart of CVS and we are always striving to be the veterinary company that people most want to work for.

“We are always looking to evolve and enhance the programme, so we are delighted to be launching the new Summer Camp, which we are confident will help our new recruits make the transition into working as a fully-fledged vet as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

“It’s fantastic to be taking on so many new graduates and ensuring they have the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to thrive with us, while also ensuring that they become part of the family straight away. We look forward to welcoming the successful applicants later this year.”
