HAPPY HOWLIDAYS! BATTERSEA LAUNCHES CHRISTMAS BAKING SERIES

Throughout the pandemic, the nation has gone bananas for a spot of home cooking, rustling up delicious cakes, bakes and everything in between. With Christmas Day coming up quickly and millions of people across the country under tougher restrictions, what better way to brighten your mood than with a homemade tasty treat?

However, while many of us may be turning a hand to perfecting gingerbread houses and Christmas cakes, the staff at Battersea have been busy ensuring that pets aren’t left out of the festive fun.

The much-loved animal charity have launched a new Christmas baking series across all of their social channels, helping pet owners get into the holiday spirit.

The two-part special teaches dog owners how to make Christmas dog treats using xylitol-free peanut butter and a banana, while cat owners can learn how to turn rolled oats and turkey into delectable treats for our feline friends.

Rehoming and Welfare Manager, Rebecca Lodder, said:

“We know so many have seen their Christmas plans cancelled at the last minute and turning to the simple pleasures in life, such as spending time with our pets and baking, might help to brighten everyone’s mood. There’s no reason why our pets should have to miss out on the joy of Christmastime, and what better way to get them involved than with these tasty treats?

“Christmas is a time for us humans to indulge a bit – well-earned after what has been a tough year. However, it’s important that you don’t allow your pet to overindulge, and they should only have these treats as part of a healthy balanced diet.”

If you want to bake with Battersea this Christmas, head to the charity’s YouTube, Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

Now more than ever, Battersea needs your support to help us continue to be here for every dog and cat across the UK and beyond.
